SHORT CV

Born in Serock (near Warsaw, Poland) in March 14, 1900. His name was Szyja Wielkobroda.
Died in Israel in June 23, 1992.
Migrated to Israel in 1939.
When he was young the family moved to Ciechanow.

EDUCATION

In 1926 began studying painting with a private teacher. Moved to University of Wilno at the Faculty of Painting. In 1928 moved to study at the Wojciech Gerson Institute of Art in Warsaw, and also under Professor Marczewski.
1955 went to Paris where he studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere

ARTISTIC ACTIVITIEES

During the years 1929-1939 he participated in many exhibitions in Poland as a member of the Jewish Painters’ Association.
After migrating to Israel he joined the Artists’ and Sculptures’ Association and exhibited in the Association’s annual exhibitions. Was a member since 1945.
In 1953 was among the founders of the artists’ village, Ein Hod.
Renewed the tradition of paper-cuts, and exhibited them often.

PRIZES

Malach Award given in Ein Hod, 1958
The Struck Prize awarded by the Haifa Municipality, 1965.
